Dorie + Joshua’s Proposal | The Venue by Inn on the Creek in Salado, Texas

Bluebonnet

Bluebonnet Proposal Austin Texas

The first word that stood out to me when Joshua contacted me was “bluebonnet”. More than anything, rain or shine, he was going to have bluebonnets for the love of his life. He explained this was Dorie’s favorite flower. To symbolize the new chapter in their “life” together, Joshua’s plan was to set out 18 clay pots; an important number in their Jewish culture meaning “life”. He filled each pot with his best friend’s favorite flower. Joshua attached a note and photograph on each plant expressing exactly how he felt towards Dorie.

Rain or Shine

Dorie’s first expression

I was a little bummed at first by the weather. I felt like the rain was not working in our favor. Wildflowers and bluebonnets were hidden away from the muck and rain. Photographers are constantly looking at the weather, light, and time of day because all of this can greatly influence how our photos will look. The Venue by Inn on the Creek in Salado, Texas, however, provided an opportunity. We were able to set the wagon filled with bluebonnets and photographs underneath the venue’s porch. I also took this time to think about rain and umbrella photos. A kind of session I never photographed before.

Will you marry me?

Dorie and Joshua walked closely together sharing an umbrella in the rain. The couple walked up the venue’s stairs to find Joshua’s wagon safely dry inside the porch’s shelter. Dorie read through each card one by one. My own husband recorded video for the couple (since we had an extra camera to spare). By card 18, Joshua got down on his knee and revealed the ring in his shoe. Dorie yelled in excitement “it was in your shoe the whole time!?” She answered, without any doubt, “yes”. The two lovebirds shared a kiss, and we left the couple to allow them a moment alone. Later, we embraced the rain for engagement photos.

Let’s share an umbrella

Dorie and Joshua stayed underneath the umbrella during the whole engagement session. They were more than willing to share kisses and show off that ring for the photos. I witness sincerity and happiness in their expression, and I know their new life will be so much fun together. A few hours prior, Joshua shared their music playlist with me. I took this opportunity to guide them onto the low-lit dance floor. The song I chose was “10,000 Hours” by Dan + Shay with the lyrics beginning with “Do you love the rain, does it make you dance?” After a quick dance, the couple naturally shared a glass of champagne with one another.

Marcus + Jessica Rodgers | Mountain Breeze Manor in Pigeon Forge, TN

Marcus and Jessica got married outside the Smoky Mountain Lodge, which is a real log cabin lodge in the Smoky Mountains of East Tennessee. It was such a fun wedding and you could even hear the venue’s small waterfall nearby! Skys the Limit Production had the honor of capturing their adventurous union with photo and video.

The Ceremony

Jessica’s dress created a cathedral length train while Marcus wore a navy blue suit, and they looked perfect. The ceremony was an intimate service outside underneath a wooden bridge. During the ceremony the groom’s grandfather officiated the wedding. He told stories from his point of view. It was hilarious and sweet at the same time. My favorite quote the officiant said in his prayer was “may the world forever be a better place because the two of you fell in love”.

The ceremony area was decorated with long white drapes, hanging greenery and floating metal rings that each held a few candles, which was a perfect touch. The reception was in a cabin deep in the mountains at the Mountain Breeze Manor – I love this venue because it’s so cozy and relaxed, not to mention a great view. Weddings at the Mountain Breeze Manor are amazing, because the surroundings are completely stunning.

The Reception

Mr. and Mrs. Rodgers took many photos in the afternoon, and cut cake in the evening. They sat together sharing stories about one another, and even had time to watch through a slideshow of both Marcus and Jessica growing up and eventually finding one another. For dinner, they ate the best breadsticks in town from Olive Garden. Lastly, they finished off the evening by lighting and sending lanterns into the night sky.

Joshua + Alyssa | Rustic Grace Estate Van Alstyne, TX

Joshua and Alyssa got married at Rustic Grace Estate, which is a charming white chapel in Van Alstyne, TX with a bright red barn. It was such a fun wedding and the sun shone all day long! Skys the Limit Production had the honor of capturing their union with both video and photography.

The couple

Joshua wore navy suit with a goldish tie. Alyssa wore a long lacy dress that created a train. Every piece of jewelry had a meaning behind the women in Alyssa’s family; besides the rings her groom provided for her of course! They both looked perfect.

Before the ceremony, Joshua’s mother dressed them both in a traditional hanbok. We took photos inside the chapel as well as adding a little bit of their humorous personality. There’s a swing beside the chapel where Alyssa pushed her gleefully groom on the swing.

Getting hitched

The ceremony was an intimate affair in a stunning chapel. During the ceremony They prayed and took communion. It was really beautiful.

They decorated the area with simple floral, which I loved. The reception was in the barn at Rustic Grace Estate – there were so many great opportunities for portraits. Weddings at Rustic Grace Estate are amazing, because the grounds are brilliant.

The party

The couple had a variety of pies in the afternoon, and a DJ playing music in the evening. It was such a sweet moment to witness the parents’ dance. After the mother son dance as well as the daddy daughter dance, the couple had their other parent join them on the dance floor. All three couples danced together. For dinner they had proper wedding grub, and the first dance gave the couple a chance to show off their dance moves. They finished off the evening with a parade of bubble exit.

Why Rustic Grace Estate is a great place to get married

Rustic Grace Estate is perfect for anyone who loves the outdoors, and is one of the loveliest places to get married in Van Alstyne, TX. The venue offers a unique atmosphere – and there is a perfect field at sunset that’s perfect for photos.

The bridal suite is located on top of the groom’s suite. Though my couple did not do this, this creates a perfect opportunity to do a “first touch” with the couple at the staircase; bride being at the top and groom being at the bottom.

“Sarah was incredible!!! My husband and I loved having her and her team shooting our wedding. We got married on Thursday and already have wedding teaser photos by Monday! I am in awe at the beauty she was able to capture and cannot wait to see everything else! She was able to move dates for me due to COVID and took every request and met it!”- Alyssa

Blessing and Opekere Omuku| The Aristide in Mckinney, Texas

The Aristide at 6200 TPC Drive had never seen beauty quite like what flooded its frame at 1400 hundred hours on the 16th of August. A moment redefined by the merging of two worlds, as Blessing and Opekere committed themselves to one another before God and family in a ceremony reminiscent of royalty. Skys the Limit Production had the distinct pleasure of capturing their nuptials.

How they met

Blessing’s sister was the first to discover the treasure hidden in the Omuku family, when she found forever with his cousin, Mina. From the first moment she met Ope, she knew that he would be good for her sister and she was correct. It was only fitting that Mina, which means the child that brings two families together, and his wife, Blessings sister provide a means to connected these two lovebirds. Despite any misgivings the two may have had, Blessing and Ope found a rare love in one another; a love that far exceeded their wildest dreams.

There was nothing out of the ordinary about a trip to the aquarium during a visit from Blessing’s family. As they made their way through the aquarium, she couldn’t hide her surprise when she saw her best friend and goddaughter, whom Ope had secretly flown into town, walking towards her. The question in her eyes was quickly answered as Ope took that moment to ask for her hand in front of those dear to her.

Wedding day

Crystal chandeliers glistened as they hung from the vaulted ceilings of the classic wedding chapel, adding a little bit of magic to the space. The wooden pews, which lined the floor, were vacated briefly as Blessing, escorted by her father in, made her way down the aisle to her Ope who awaited her, all the love in his heart spilling from his eyes. The scene was a seamless mesh of traditional ceremonial hues and a rich Nigerian culture.

The future Mrs. Omuku looked royal in her white traditional, strapless, sequined gown, a diamond encrusted headband, and a beautiful diamond necklace. Opekere looked dashing in his classic black tux, with a simple soft pink rose pinned to the front of his jacket.

With a sparkle in his eyes, Blessing’s father passed on the responsibilities of protecting and loving his beautiful gem, his Blessing, onto Ope in a manner that only a loving father could. Tears flowed as Blessing and Ope made clear their promises to one another, opting to speak from a place they’ve learned to trust, their hearts.

The wedding party soon grooved their way into a beautiful ballroom to the melodic tunes of Tiwa Savage’s, All Over, where guests of the ceremony were already seated. Blessing and Ope stole the show as they claimed the dance floor, proving to everyone that they were indeed the “freshest couple; the newest couple; the most beautiful couple.”

Skys the Limit Production would like to offer a very special thank you to the lovely couple.
